Zhang Ziyi is an award winning international film actress of Chinese decent. She was skeptical when her parents suggested she join the Beijing dance academy at age 11 and even ran away from school on one occasion. At age 15, Zhang Ziyi entered China's top acting college, the Central Academy of Drama. At age 19, she won the Silver Bear award in the Berlin Film Festival for her role in Zhang Yimou's The Road Home.
Zhang Ziyi won the Independent Spirit's Best Supporting Actress Award and the Toronto Film Critics' Best Supporting Actress Award and rose to fame for her role as Jen in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon in 2000.
She has worked with renowned directors such as Zhang Yimou, Ang Lee, Wong Kar-Wai, Chen Kaige, Seijun Suzuki and Rob Marshall.
